Lately, I have stumbled upon a famous name: Richard Li (Chinese: 李澤楷). Who is Hong Kong’s richest man’s second son. AND who is also Hong Kong’s 16th richest person. The more I read about him, the more I needed to read. His story became very fascinating to me. Before reading the articles, I had an impression, like most, that he was a snobby brat (ok…. Maybe not BRAT, but… you get the point). But after reading on, I realized he was totally different from what I’ve heard (which isn’t much) about him. For example, the media gave us (the viewers) that all he ever did was spend money, and waste it all away, yet, I read from an interview from Times Magazine, that, at a certain point in his teenage years, he needed money, but instead of going up to his rich father to just ask, he actually went to work at McDonald’s as a cashier! (Isn’t that shocking? I mean… WHOA that is so awesome and cool!!) And another thing, being a International Studies Major student, I could only wow at this:

Sometimes I think I have this love and hate relationship with some of Hong Kong’s media. I hate how they never really give anyone a second chance (although, some totally TOTALLY deserve it *shifts eyes) Anyways, like I would really like to point out the Stanford diploma incident, according to the press he did not graduate, but… does anyone really know the reason behind it? Probably not, apparently, as I discovered, he was not kicked out, as some people assumed, but rather, he dropped out… there’s a difference there… you know! As a student currently majoring in International Studies, stepping into second year, I shouldn’t say this, but I totally agree with Mr. Brown, who replied with this(taken from International Herald Tribune):

Regarding the report "Hong Kong Tycoon's 'Diploma' Disappears" (March 23):

I've just been reading your paper with a front page article on Richard Li's Stanford degree or lack thereof.

I am a businessman in Tokyo with three U.S. Ivy league graduate degrees. I have never met Richard Li.
.
News flash: No one in the business world cares whether Mr. Li has a Stanford degree or not.

What we note is that he is a sharp guy. Period.

Honestly, if he’s smart, why would he need a degree to prove it? O.O media… *scoff. Just because you do great in school, doesn’t mean, you would be successful in the outside world.

Another person I should really mention is Juno Mak, it has been years since the ICAC investigation, and, if I had not mistaken they were not able to prove that there was bribing involved, rather, it was just an INVESTIGATION, yet people still, and in fact believe that he did buy his way up the entertainment circle, but honestly, I really want to ask, do those people have any idea just how hard he is working right now? How much effort he has put into his music? The answer is simply: no. I mean, I really like to read about all the gossip they have in their featured articles, but… sometimes… the Hong Kong Media pushes it a bit hard.

致香港電訊盈科股東的公開信



各位股東朋友：



在過去的數星期，相信你們都已從傳媒得悉有關多方面提議洽購電訊盈科的報導，以及各方面對電訊盈科發展前景的意見。就如你們所知，董事會最關注的重點，是要為股東尋求最大利益。



對我而言，這段日子可以證明一件事，是有關提議所述的本公司價值遠高於現時的股價。爲此，盈科亞洲拓展（本人持有百分之七十五股權）今日接受了梁伯韜先生的提議，將盈科亞洲拓展所持的百分之二十二點六六電訊盈科股權，全數出售予他。



透過是次股權出售的安排，使我有機會可額外為各位小股東提供若干利益。爲此，我計劃把這次交易中本人所得的全部現金溢價，以特別現金派發給電訊盈科的所有小股東。此次向小股東所派發的現金，是以2006年6月16日（星期五）第一次有財團發表聲明，表示有意洽購電訊盈科權益前的電訊盈科收市價（每股港幣4.80元），與今次交易的作價（每股港幣6.00）計算差額所得的全部現金。特別現金的派發，將取決於梁伯韜先生第一筆款項的支付，以及取得中國網通的同意。我估計這筆特別現金，共約值港幣13.8億元，約相當於每股電訊盈科股份可獲港幣33-38分。



當收妥相當于交易總額三成的第一筆款項後（將不會遲于今年12月14日），本人將辭去電訊盈科主席職務，並會離開電訊盈科董事會。而在此之前，本人將百分之百竭誠為電訊盈科繼續服務。



電訊盈科在過去幾年中，一直成功減債，並且建立了健康、機具價值及競爭力的業務。我們在結合固網、流動通訊與寬頻互聯網服務方面成績斐然，並且在發展寬頻電視方面領導全球。



梁伯韜先生是一位經驗豐富和專業的投資者。以他作爲大股東，我深信在他的領導和支持下，必能再次將電訊盈科的業務引領向前。

I want to explore and find THE BEST journal

Its weird... as I write in this new one, I can not help but sense that I am betraying my blog the one where I created in Xanga, around 2 years ago. I just get a nasty feeling, don't know why. Opposite, I actually feel like this is a new start, a new beginning, I can not help but get a surreal feeling similar to the one I had gotten 2 years back, when I first created my other blog/journal.

This may be the only entry I would put here.
